Disappointing Cell ID Results
Tags: Posted: Nov 29, 2008Related Project: Socialize WM
I've been rather disapointed with the results I've been getting with the Cell Tower ID code I referred to in my last post here.
OpenCellID.org is an open community project. I understand it relied upon to be completely accurate.
But the results I'm getting back from their web service make no sense. They're close enough that I must be inputting the correct data, in the correct order. But I do not believe that one cell can serve the whole of Pontefract, nor do I believe I'd be assigned to a cell the other side of Wentbridge when I'm in Wakefield city center.
I'm going to keep experimenting with it despite this setback.
Worse case, it can at least be used to check into a placemark.
Once you've associated a cell tower to a specific placemark the software could automaticly check you in there.
Will have to be a optional feature, for people that often check in from a lot of closely grouped places. Like myself.
